Beautiful stationery brand Busy B appointed Un.titled to develop their responsive e-commerce website.

Busy B produce award-winning products aimed at making family life simpler, better organised and more beautiful.

Launching as a new brand in early 2014 in an effort to connect with a broader audience, Busy B introduced a range of new products. Busy B appointed Un.titled to design and develop their new fully responsive Magento e-commerce website and to art direct lifestyle and product photography.

Strategy & UX

One of the core objectives was to develop the brand online in a manner that resonated with the target audience; Busy B should be a brand that people wish to be associated with.

As well as connecting with customers, Busy B wanted to increase traffic and improve sales. To this end user journeys were carefully considered to guide users through the browsing and purchasing process.

We worked with Busy B to define a logical structure and developed an intuitive navigation system that works across all screen sizes.

Furthermore, a content strategy was developed to ensure information displayed is relevant to device context; the purchasing user journey on mobile devices was given special attention in order to keep it as simple and easy to use as possible.


The user interface design conveys Busy B’s sense of fun and playfulness while remaining clear and easy to navigate.

Brand colours, style and detailing are used throughout to ensure the site is instantly recogniseable as Busy B and the theme was adapted and extended where necessary in order to work in the digital medium. High quality product imagery is lifted by the interface and presents Busy B’s beautiful product range in the best possible light.

‘Quick buy’ functionality is made readily available in the listing view, allowing visitors to purchase without navigating deeper into the site.

A series of illustrations were created for use in the interface to offer additional flexibility and further communicate the Busy B brand.

In order to better present products in real-world environments an image hotspot feature was developed. The hotspot feature allows individual products to be selected from a single lifestyle photograph containing multiple items. Products featured in the hotspot generally experience a strong uplift in conversion rate.


Busy B is built on the Magento e-commerce platform.

A bespoke cloud hosting platform delivers content providing a performant and reliable service for what is a business-critical website.

We also developed a Magento module that reconciles orders with Busy B’s Sage accounting system.
